In Celebration of the 2023 Housing Industry Australia-CSR Tasmanian Home of the Year

Home of The Year – Otago Bay

The team at Sackett are proud of our partnerships with builders and architects, and so it goes without saying that we wanted to congratulate Delaney & Co and Clever Design, who won the 2023 HIA-CSR Tasmanian Home of the Year

The stunning home, Otago Edge, overlooks Otago Bay, and is a masterpiece in sustainable design, quality construction and impeccable detail.

The brief was for a modern, one-storey, contemporary home with ‘wow factor’ that caters to a growing family. Key elements include a grand entrance, open living spaces with a central fireplace, a spacious sewing/storage room, river views from the kitchen, and a butler's pantry with convenient garage access. Outdoor spaces include an alfresco area, sheltered spa pool, and a connecting fire pit.

HIA Tasmania Executive Director Stuart Collins said that despite the high degree of difficulty for the build, “From the moment you step inside, precision craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident in every feature. The judges were impressed with many of the unique project innovations including a concrete entry bridge spanning a freshwater pond, a stonework façade with solid Western Red Cedar timber beams, and a glass cabinet showcasing a vintage 1969 BSA motorcycle.”

The complete list of key features of the home is listed on the Delaney & Co feature page for the build, and Sackett was proud to play their part in the project.

Sackett’s contribution to the project included:

  • A commercial-grade, integrated heat pump recirculating hot water system,
  • Hydronic in-slab heating,
  • A ducted air conditioning and ventilation system,
  • Custom-supply air registers discretely located within ceiling recesses, and
  • Joinery kicker recesses and set-in slimline linear grills.

Our team also contributed to a number of other HIA 2023 award-winning projects, and in the next few months we are excited to be showcasing those too.

Watch this space.

If you have any questions about working with Sackett on your next project, we’d love to hear from you.
